Luxury Camping with a Heaping Side of Nature

Luxury Camping with a Heaping Side of Nature

What goes perfectly with hiking? Camping! But, if you’re looking for camping recommendations, you’ve come to the wrong blog. I climbed Mont Blanc with a fresh gel manicure, so needless to say, you won’t find me sleeping on the ground anytime soon. However, a nice meal over a hot fire (with wine and whiskey) followed by a cozy bed with lots of warm blankets and pillows surrounded by the sounds of nature, well that’s another story. With Columbus Day Weekend just around the corner and still plenty of warm days ahead it’s the perfect time to make the most of fall foliage and plan a little getaway! I’ve rounded up my top 3 favorite glamping options in New York State.

If you do plan a little getaway, don’t forget to check out my 10 tips for safe roadtripping during a pandemic- keep yourself safe and everyone else safe too- we’re all in this together!

Happy Glamping!

Before Covid was even a thing, Getaway promoted Contactless Checkin so you start avoiding people before you even get to your isolated mini cabin! Every cabin comes equipped with kitchen stapes like pasta and sauce, dishware and utensils , a stocked bathroom, and Casper bedding. No sore backs from sleeping on the ground here!

Everything you could possibly need for a night away in nature is at your finger tips including firewood so you can use your outdoor fire-pit to make all your Francis Mallman cooking dreams come true, alcohol, and a s’mores kit. Stop in Hudson for provisions before checking in unless you’re content with pasta and sauce. Pricing from $150 a night.

Firelight Camp is attached to Buttermilk Falls State Park and the perfect location to explore all of the other fantastic waterfall filled state parks in the Finger Lakes region like Watkins Glen or Taughannock Falls. Plus being in the Finger Lakes you have access to all of the wineries and cider houses perfect for exploring post-hike.

The bathhouse is shared but super clean and full of luxurious Beekman products. Your stay also includes breakfast including homemade quinoa granola, eggs, homemade muffins, and local fruit, yogurt, and juices. (You know I love a good breakfast!)

Firelight also has a full service bar serving cocktails, local beers, wines, and ciders to enjoy by one of the many fire pits on the property. Pricing from $300 a night.

Kingston, NY

Just a stones throw away from Catskill Park, Hutton Brickyards recently built 4 tiny cabins right on their waterfront property with a huge communal fire pit that comes stacked with Adirondack chairs and firewood to keep your fire going deep into the night and into the crisp morning as well.

Each cabin comes equipped with a comfortable bed, kitchenware, and a full bathroom and shower.

The location is perfect for those that want the camp experience but want to enjoy sit-down meals in nearby Kingston, NY.
